What to Expect at a Westmere Mathnasium Center

Every student starts with a free diagnostic assessment — about 45 minutes — that identifies exactly where their math skills are solid and where foundational gaps exist. From there, a custom learning plan is built before instruction begins.

Sessions are 1 hour, typically 2–3 times per week. Students work through their individual plan with instructors available throughout — not lecture format, not group classes.

Families in the Bethlehem and Guilderland districts often reach out when their child hits a wall in middle school math — fractions, ratios, and the jump to pre-algebra are common breaking points. Early intervention makes a significant difference before Regents coursework begins in 8th or 9th grade.

Questions from Westmere Families

Where exactly is the Westmere center located?

We are at 1801 Western Avenue in the Westmere neighborhood of Albany — a few minutes from the Guilderland town line. The center is easy to reach from Guilderland, Delmar, Slingerlands, and western Albany.

My child attends Bethlehem Central in Delmar. Is Westmere a reasonable drive?

Yes. The Western Avenue location is a short drive from Delmar and Slingerlands via Route 85 or New Scotland Avenue. We regularly serve Bethlehem Central students at this center.

Do you work with students who are ahead, or only those who are struggling?

Both. About half our students come in because they are struggling — falling behind, losing confidence, or hitting a wall on a specific concept. The other half are on grade level or above and want to stay ahead or prepare for Regents math. We build a custom plan either way.

How do I get started at the Westmere center?

Book a free diagnostic assessment. It takes about 45 minutes and identifies exactly where your child's math skills are solid and where gaps exist. From there we build a learning plan before any instruction begins. There is no enrollment commitment required to take the assessment.
